This tournament is a combination of buy ins and tournament winners. Some of the local areas run qualifier tournaments that you must win to get your slot so Justin is right in saying that the competition is tough! I saw some very funny pictures of players having a good time which makes all the work involved in setting up this tournament worth it! Each year it gets better and better...we hope to have some improvements for next year as well. The rate this is going, we may have to have a qualifier tournment also! We were lucky to have 11 slots this year but don't count on it for next year. Our weekend started a little crazy but settled in the 2nd day. In all, 41 matches were played - more than 3,165 balls sunk in 9-ball and 481 games of 8-ball completed - over 3 days and 6 winners emerged. Congratulations to the following teams who are heading to Las Vegas in August! They are:

8-Ball: Rollin' With Albo - Instant Replay, Huntington; Hot Shots - Port Jeff Bowl, Port Jefferson Station; I Got that Feelin'- Changing Times, Northport and Ag An Bharr* - Dublin Jack, Northport.

9-Ball: No Monkey Bizzness - VIP Billiards, Bayport and Couple Pickles in a Jar - Felt Billiards, Commack

*Team Meeting from Felt Billiards in Commack actually won their bracket but two of their members are getting married & that week is their honeymoon and one other team member couldn't make it. They only have 6 members on their roster so they would only be able to field a team of 2 players due to their skill levels. They agreed to switch tournaments with the team they beat and they will go to the Northeast Challenge instead. It was nice of them to do that so Kudos to you guys.

The second place 8-ball teams will be heading to the Northeast Challenge or some chose a cash payout of $800. Those teams were: Eye of the Jew, Lucky Charms and Rack Stars. The two second place 9-ball teams who earned an $800 payout were 6 Chicks & 2 Sticks and Sure Shooters.

There were a lot of new faces as well as many seasoned veterans. Great job to all who played and I wish you luck in the coming sessions!

Finally, I must send a huge Thank You Howard Van Benthuysen. He is always there to lend a hand and make our events a success. Thanks also to Dave and Katie for their hospitality in hosting the event and to their staff for taking care of Jerry and I.
