I don't like having to use two websites to get information out. A lot of players LOVE the stats and ONLY go to the national website to get them and never come here to see the local information and what's going on around here. If I had my druthers, we'd ONLY have this site and go back to the graphs (which I thought were SO cool too) and the stats here. There are a few nice features on the national site though like being able to pay your membership online with a credit card, printing scoresheets for the week but other than that, I miss the old days too. Let's hope for better things to come for the future.

What a day! We had the biggest turnout ever for scotch doubles! 31 teams fought the battle for just over 10 hours before a winner was found. We had a lot of family teams at this tournament...Husband and Wife team Sarah & Tom Heller; Father & Son team - Scott and Matt Lollis; Two Uncle & Nephew teams - Gary & Brian Nohs and Joe & Doug Dacosta; Brothers Jeff & Bob Jorgensen and what touney would be complete without "Girl Power" teams Stephanie Papageorge & Theresa Tascarella and Stephanie Joseph & Maria Spector. Ed Polcari & Mike Reed played constantly without a break for the enitre day, fighting their way back from the losers bracket to make it to the semi-finals. (All with a bad back for Ed!) So did Stephanie & Theresa! These two teams each won $200!

The final match was a very exciting one! Ed & Steve had to win 4 games to John & Tim's 3. John & Tim took a quick 2-0 lead until a few good rolls for Ed and Steve tied the match at 2-2. The 5th game was something I had never seen before in 16 years! Tim & John had sunk their balls and were on the 8-ball and Tim missed. Steve shot the ball next and he bobbled it in the pocket and it came back out. John tried next and missed his shot. Ed approached the table and we all thought, ok, he's got it but as soon as he hit it he knew he missed it and walked outside! So.....Tim had his revenge and another chance...but....he missed again. Alright, every shot they missed, we were all going "Oooohhhhh," "Noooo", "OMG!" etc. So now here is Steve, back at it to finally make the ball in the pocket but the pocket wouldn't have it and Steve missed again. By now were are all in shock! John came to the table confidently (or so he looked) and HE missed it too! Please Ed...This can't go on...sink the damn ball! And sink it he did. PHEW! That was 8 times before the 8-ball was sunk. We are now at hill/hill and John and Tim won that game and won the match.

The winning team called me Monday and told me they were not able to attend Vegas so they handed the trip to the 2nd place team. That was nice of you to be so forthcoming, we apprecaite it! So that's it...Hope to see you all at the next one sometime in April or May - I'll let you know! In the meantime, don't forget the 9-ball doubles for Vegas on April 14th!!

Also...I would like to say THANK YOU to all teams who participated. Great sportsmanship was shown and you all really played through this tournament quickly! Thanks again!!
